Wowza! After going through a slump of finding good books to read, I stumbled upon this little treasure! And it was free on amazon, but then I checked it again the next day( maybe not the next day, but a couple days later) and it was no longer free! Patting my shoulder for a job well done!This is one of those books where I am applauding the heroine after each choice she makes. Of course there is a male counterpart, who is supposedly this super hot guy, but after each test he/she puts each other through, the heroine, Cassie passes with flying colors in my standards! Usually, in some books, there are some cringe worthy parts, for which the heroine makes, but Cassie doesn't!
Cassie is a strong and independent young lady, who knows what she wants, and isn't afraid of speaking her mind. She shows both strong and weak qualities, that makes her character seem real and raw. When she finds her long time boyfriend, Mark cheating on her, she doesn't break down crying yet, but tells him, they are done and will be coming later to pick up her stuff, preferably without him there. Good for her! He doesn't deserve to see her show such emotion for him, and even when he was begging her to forgive him, she doesn't comply! I don't know about you, but when a guy cheats, then I say, kick 'em to the curb. They don't deserve you!
Now, for the new guy, Logan. What to say? He is this "hot" new neighbor that is loaded with money and a kid. I find her relationship with his son believable, and its just cute reading how they all interact with each other. A way to a man's heart is through his kid and his stomach? Hmm, interesting. However, I like that Cassie and Logan have this undeniable attraction to one another, but she's not one of those character that immediately falls in love with him, or vice versa. They both have their troubles and are guarded, but slowly they each break each others wall.
The only thing annoying, as I have noticed in other people's review entries are that her characters smirk way too much! More expressions would be nice! I'd really like to see/read some ridiculously hot guy with a big goofy grin on his face. :)
Anyways, there must some kind of conflict, right? I won't spoil it anymore, you'll just have to read to see what it is, and how they go about it. I like having all these hurdles that they have to jump to reach a HEA, but this story has a cliff hanger! It would have been nice if it wasn't but I guess I'll just have to wait till then. Supposedly, its in the fall 2013? Couple months, but hey I'm definitely going to be looking out for it, and will read more of this author's works.
