Haha, this story was such a joy! I've only read two of her books so far, but I know this is and will forever be my favorite of hers.What's not to love, especially where there's action, humor, and romance that hits just the right spot. Not too much and not too little, just perfect. The chemistry between the friends/group is just perfect. There banter and squabbles is the best part of the book. Hauk, Fain, Caillen, Chayden, Maris, and Darling were a bunch of overgrown muscular men who can't help but complain about everything and any little thing, that it was just too funny to stop reading. I felt like it was a one piece scene. They each had their own unique personality that made the whole group have a friendly family scene.
Desederia, (what a weird name, though lots of her characters also have weird names)is a pretty good heroine. She fights and is tough when she wants to be, and is vulnerable and soft at other times. I found her readable and not one of those whiny heroines. Caillen is the kind of person who hides his true self, with a laid back personality, making a joke of everything. I really like this type of male character, though, those dark broody types are nice too, if written right.
I'm definitely going to read more of her books, hopefully, there will be more humor in them and not be as dark and depressing as Born of Silence.
